OFHEO is removing limits on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's $1.5 trillion mortgage portfolios which were imposed in 2006 after having $11.3 billion of accounting errors. Fannie Mae today reported a $3.55 billion 4th quarter loss and Freddie Mac is to issue results tomorrow.
Dollar hits a record low of $1.51 per Euro.
New orders for durable goods fell 5.3% in January, close to the 5.1% drop expected by economists.
