Quote for the day:

"If you drink much from a bottle marked 'poison' it is almost certain to disagree with you, sooner or later."

- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

In the news:

Existing home sales did better than economists had expected and only dropped 0.4% in January compared to December 2007. January 2008 was down 23.4% compared to January 2007.

Visa plans to go public with an IPO that could raise $18.8 billion. They will likely begin trading in several weeks on the NYSE with the ticker V. This would be the largest IPO in U.S. history and would be second to the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China IPO which raised $19 billion in late 2006. Mastercard has seen its share price double from $100 to $200 in the past year.
