Quote for the day:

Poverty is the parent of revolution and crime.

- Aristotle , Politics

In the news:

MBIA posted a quarterly loss of $2.4 billion or $13.03 a share. The company's shares rose 98 cents to $10.41 in early trading.

Indymac posts a $184 million first quarter loss or $2.27 a share. Indymac now says they probably won't make a profit this year and won't until home price declines slow. In February the company said they expected to post a profit of $13 million in 2008. Indymac now expects losses every quarter this year but expect quarterly losses to narrow to $20 million by the fourth quarter.
